Remote Health Monitoring of Wind Turbines Employing Vibroacoustic Transducers and Autoencoders
نویسندگان
چکیده
Implementation of remote monitoring technology for real wind turbine structures designed to detect potential sources failure is described. An innovative multi-axis contactless acoustic sensor measuring intensity as well previously known accelerometers were used this purpose. Signal processing methods proposed, including feature extraction and data analysis. Two strategies examined: Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients pruned with principal component analysis autoencoder-based extraction. The scientific experiment resulted in gathering predict mechanism failures.

Wind Turbines and Human Health
The association between wind turbines and health effects is highly debated. Some argue that reported health effects are related to wind turbine operation [electromagnetic fields (EMF), shadow flicker, audible noise, low-frequency noise, infrasound]. Others suggest that when turbines are sited correctly, effects are more likely attributable to a number of subjective variables that result in an a...
متن کاملFault Diagnosis Methods for Wind Turbines Health Monitoring: a Review
Recently, the rapid expansion of wind energy activity has led to an increasing number of publications that deal with wind turbine health monitoring. In real practice, implementing a prognostics and health management (PHM) strategy for wind turbines is challenging. Indeed, wind turbines are complex electro-mechanical systems that often work under rapidly changing environment and operating load c...
متن کاملHow the factoid of wind turbines causing 'vibroacoustic disease' came to be 'irrefutably demonstrated'.
OBJECTIVE In recent years, claims have proliferated in cyberspace that wind turbines cause a large variety of symptoms and diseases. One of these, "vibroacoustic disease" (VAD) is frequently mentioned. The aim of this study is to examine the quality of the evidence on how VAD came to be associated with wind turbine exposure by wind farm opponents. METHODS Searches of the web (Google advanced)...
متن کاملIndustrial wind turbines and adverse health effects.
INTRODUCTION Some people living in the environs of industrial wind turbines (IWTs) report experiencing adverse health and socioeconomic effects. This review considers the hypothesis that annoyance from audible IWTs is the cause of these adverse health effects. METHODS We searched PubMed and Google Scholar for articles published since 2000 that included the terms "wind turbine health," "wind t...
متن کاملStructural health monitoring of wind turbines observed by autonomous software components – 2 nd level monitoring
Wind energy, with an annual growth of about 30%, represents one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources. Continuous long-term monitoring of wind turbines can greatly reduce maintenance and repair costs, ensure structural safety, extend operational life, and, ultimately, improve the profitability of wind turbines. A decentralized wind turbine monitoring system has been developed and inst...
